This website was made by 8th graders (age 13) at Center for Inquiry 2 for the community (capstone) project.
Mental health is the well being of our acts, emotions, and thoughts.
Main causes for mental illness

Trauma - Trauma is Something awful that can cause physical, emotional, or psychological harm. Examples: any form of abuse, bullying, traumatic grief, medical trauma, natural disasters, other scary events, and more

Genetics - When a family member had a mental illness it would get passed down to you

Certain injuries and chemical imbalance - Brain injuries that could cause Chemical Imbalances and certain types of surgery could cause mental health issues

Issues during pregnancy - Getting exposed to chemicals or having viruses when pregnant

Substance abuse - When someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol

Serious mental conditions - Diseases that are life threatening like cancer
Main Treatments

Medicine - Like SSRIs, or anti depressants can help treat mental mental health. Taking medicine only works if you keep taking it

Self management - Having good hygiene or staying healthy. Self management can improve mental health but it wont always treat it.

Coping techniques - Is having a hobby like sports or working out also there's being a problem solver or meditating there are a lot of different coping techniques. Coping techniques can improve your mental health.

Therapy - Is the best way to treat mental health illness. There are different types of therapy like Cognitive behavioral therapy that helps with depression and anxiety.
