Mental health issues are common among teens. the most common mental illness among teens is Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, and behavioral disorders according to the CDC.

The causes of These disorders include ​social media, bullying, a bad living environment, trauma, genetics, loss of a friend or loved one, family or friend conflict, natural disasters, false beauty standards, and more.

Some ways that teens can avoid mental illnesses or improve their mental health is by getting sleep, spending time with friends and family, talking about feelings with a parent or trusted adult, getting therapy, and finding good coping techniques.

If you think your child or friend has a mental illness you can tell by changes in sleep, talking or joking about suicide, has changes in appetite, not motivated, lazy, changes in mood, starts acting differently, being less social, they start vaping or taking other substances like alcohol, and them telling you that they aren't doing well or that they need help.
