​Addiction and dependency: You can be addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, tobacco, gambling, nicotine, and more. Symptoms: not much control, you can't stop yourself from taking this substance or committing the action and not socializing as much. Treatments: Medication (Talk to a doctor for help,) Contingency Management, 12-Step Facilitation, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Detoxification. for more info look up https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/atod or call their number 1-800-662-4357. Causes: Peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse, early exposure to drugs, stress, parental guidance, and addictive products like nicotine.

ADHD/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: People with ADHD are more likely to experience anxiety, depression, anger issues,  substance abuse, and sleep problems. Symptoms: talks too much, fidgets with or taps hands or feet, or squirms in seat, not able to stay seated, Impulsiveness, Struggling with organizing, Poor time management skills, Problems focusing on a task, Trouble multitasking, Hyperactivity or restlessness, Poor planning, Getting mad easier. Treatment: Parent training (if you have a child with ADHD,) behavioral therapy, social skills training, psychotherapy, family therapy, Antihypertensive drug, Cognition-enhancing medication, Stimulant. Talk to a doctor before getting treatment! Causes for ADHD: brain injury, exposure to environmental risks, alcohol and tobacco use during pregnancy, premature delivery, low birth weight.

Anger Issues: Anger issues are when someone is having episodes of anger. When a person has these episodes of anger they show anger, disruptive behavior, and impulsivity. Anger issues will make you not be able to control your anger. Not being able to control your anger can make you very destructive. Symptoms: Harming others physically or verbally, constantly feeling angry, you feel that you can't control your anger, when you regret saying or doing something while angry, small things will make you mad, having a raging behavior, getting irritated easy, constant thoughts running through your head, tingling, bad chest pains, and rapid breathing. Treatment: You should think before you speak, exercise, take a timeout/break, apologize as much as you can, using humor, realization techniques like music, or meditation. Medication: Prozac, Celexa, and Zoloft. Talk to a doctor before getting medication! Causes: Usually, anger issues are caused by severe mental health issues, grief, alcohol abuse

Anxiety and panic attacks: anxiety is when you have constant intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear. Symptoms of Panic attacks: Chest pain, chills, choking or smothering feeling, difficulty breathing, fear of losing control, thoughts about death, intense feeling of terror, nausea, racing heart, sweating, tingling or numbness, trembling, or shaking. Symptoms of anxiety: having sleep problems, having muscle tension, always worried, being irritable, can't concentrate or space out, easily fatigued. Treatment for both: Avoid alcohol, reduce caffeine intake, physical exercise, quit smoking, relaxation techniques, stress management, healthy diet, cognitive behavioral therapy, meditation, Psychotherapy. Medication for both: SSRIs, Anxiolytic, Antidepressant, Sedative, Nerve pain medication, talk to a doctor before getting medication! Causes for Anxiety: usually anxiety can be caused by something that made you stressed, so for example taking a test, public speaking, or something more intense like rock climbing.

Bipolar disorder: Bipolar disorder is when you have consistent mood swings. Symptoms: Feeling sad, hopeless, lacking energy, difficulty concentrating, can't remembering things, loss of interest in everyday activities, feelings of emptiness or worthlessness, feelings of guilt, feeling pessimistic about everything, self-doubt. Treatments: Cognitive behavioral therapy, Psychoeducation, Family therapy, Psychotherapy, Anticonvulsant, Antipsychotic, SSRIs. Talk to a doctor for help! Causes: usually bipolar disorder is caused by drug or alcohol abuse, lots of stress, and chemical imbalances in the brain.

Depression: Depression can get worse throughout time, get help as soon as you can. Abuse, some medications, trauma, biological things, grief (usually after a friend or loved one dies) abuse of drugs or alcohol, and other personal problems can all cause depression. Symptoms: anxiety, apathy, guilt, hopelessness, sadness, agitation, excessive crying, irritability, restlessness, social isolation, early awakening, insomnia, fatigue, loss of appetite, lack of concentration, slowness in activity, or thoughts of suicide. Treatment: Cognitive behavioral therapy, Behavior therapy, SSRIs, antidepressants, Anxiolytic, antipsychotics, and more. Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)Dissociative identity disorder, DID is when someone has two or more different personalities. The different identities can control someone's behavior at random times. The identities have their own history, traits, likes, and dislikes. DID can make you lose some memory, and make you hallucinate. Symptoms: Depression, anxiety, delusions, disorientation, memory loss, drug or alcohol abuse, and suicidal thoughts or self-harm. Causes: DID can be caused by physical or sexual abuse during childhood. DID is mainly caused by trauma. Treatment: psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy.

Eating Problems: you can get an eating problem by inheriting it from a family member or you can get it after having other illnesses like depression. There are multiple types of eating disorders, talk to a doctor if you show multiple symptoms. Treatments, also, don't always work. Symptoms: Feeling cold, dizziness, fainting, cuts, and calluses that lead to vomiting, dry skin and hair, brittle nails, dental problems, swelling of glands, weakness in the brain and muscles, swelling feet and ankles, yellow skin, struggling with weight, food, calories, carbohydrates, fat grams, and dieting. uncomfortable eating around others, Skipping meals, eating little, being negative about your body image, frequent dieting, and extreme mood swings. Treatments: Cognitive behavioral therapy, Family-based therapy, Group cognitive behavioral therapy, antidepressants, (sometimes) a dietitian. Treatments depend on what Eating problem you have so talk to a doctor for help!

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD): Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a chronic, and anxiety disorder. OCD is when someone uncontrollable obsessions, and compulsions that someone forces themself to repeat over and over again. OCD can start in childhood but it usually starts when you become a teen or adult. Symptoms for children: Obsession with germs or dirt, thoughts about hurting or killing someone, spending a long time touching things, thinking about numbers and sequences or counting, worrying about things too much, violent thoughts, and different behaviors. Symptoms for adults: Scared of dirt or contamination, having to have things in order and inline, doesn't like being uncertain, having doubts. Causes: Genetics, when you grow up you might watch someone in your family do things repeatedly. It could also be caused by changes in your brain functions. Treatment: Teletherapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, exposure and response, prevention. Medication: Serotonin reuptake inhibitors, an antipsychotic medication. Talk to a doctor before getting medication!

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): You can experience flashbacks of traumatic events, like abuse, with PTSD Symptoms: agitation, irritability, hostility, hypervigilance, self-destructive behavior, or social isolation, flashback, fear, severe anxiety, or mistrust, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, guilt, or loneliness, insomnia or nightmares, emotional detachment or unwanted thoughts. Treatment: Cognitive behavioral therapy, Eye movement desensitization, and reprocessing, SSRIs. Talk to a doctor or therapist for help! Causes: Stressful experiences, trauma, Inherited mental health risks, Inherited features of your personality, response to stress

Schizophrenia: Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder. Less than one percent of people in the U.S. get affected by Schizophrenia. Symptoms: Hallucinations, hearing noises, seeing things that aren't real, delusions, thinking you're getting harassed or harmed, disorganized thinking, extremely disorganized or abnormal motor behavior, bad hygiene, not expressing a lot of emotion. Causes: There is no known cause for schizophrenia. Researchers think that schizophrenia can be caused by genetics, problems with brain chemicals, Treatment: There are no cures to get rid of schizophrenia. psychosocial therapy can help control schizophrenia, psychologist, psychiatric nurse, or social worker can help.
